Default Ursanway Questions

Since I thought it would be nice to get the UW monument, I thought I would do it in an Ursan group. Basically I plan on doing a run with an Ursan PUG (even if the high chance of fail because its PUGS -_- ) for the monument and then after that.......I can then try (and try and try until I get it right) to do UW with guildies without Ursan (just explaining incase someone asks why use ursan XD)

so here are my questions:

1) Are eles welcomed in Ursan groups

2) Are Rank 8s welcomed since I remembered they used to be but people have been asking for 9s and 10s lately (but if I do need R9 at least, hello HM handbooks XD)

3) if i went on my warrior would I be asked if I had a stone fest insignia? since I use the sentinal insigs instead

4) just curious, for those who have done ursan groups before, how many tries did it take for you to get it right? (since as I said PUGs fail alot >_> )

thanks in advance and remember, this is not a thread for QQing about ursan or crap like that, if you want to QQ, go to one of the many many MANY threads in riverside

1) Doesn't matter since your bar is being replaced anyway.

2) It'll be easier to get into a group as a R10, especially since there are so many R10s out there already.

3) Doubt it, but they are both cheap anyway. Just switch one of your insignias if politely asked to.

And here's some further reading for you.

*edit Hmm, seem to left out a word in answer 3. Also the link I posted addresses weapon sets to bring. No, its not necessary to follow it to the letter so use your own judgment.

I'll check the thread in a min but @ answer 2

can't be bothered getting Rank 10, but I'll get rank 9 and see how my luck goes.

Another question, for a caster (ele for example) is it best to bring a zealous sword/melee wep?

As an ele, you have so much energy the zealous doesn't matter. But as any other profession zealous is the best thing to have as an Ursan. And people do take r9's, but not r8's. So start working on that.

It doesnt matter in the least, ursans can bring whatever and as long as you have r8 and cons any grp will welcome you with wide open arms, If you are just trying to get the monument then try to get and older 2 terra grps, not the quadterra speed run, PuGs fail this about 9/10 times. 2/1 terra groups are pretty hard to fail if the terras are decent and no one gets a reaper killed/takes the wrong quest.

Lol, people never take r8's, only as a last resort. Everyone in ToA is asking for r9+

well i have 90k norn points so HM handbooks should get me to R9 by tonight and I can do the UW ursan pug tomorrow. I also have cons but if possibly I won't mention it >_> (if possible that is) just to see if there is anyone who doesn't care about using their cons at all.

oh yeah, one more question so I dont mess up the group, Never done a proper UW run before so once someone takes a quest and spawns the monsters for it (ie the grasps at the start) do you take the quest after you kill the spawns? assuming your not the one who took it at the start.

(and side note: since I have heard so much about how bad PUGs can be in terms of verbal abuse, I am just going to keep my mouth shut during the run unless someone asks me something directly)

they used to, but my guess is because so so many people have gotten R9/R10 now, people decide to look for R9s min

Meh, It's best just to let the person who is taking the quest get it. You get the monument no matter what, even if you don't get the quests yourself. The only thing getting them does is give you exp.

I remember when I finished DoA and there was no-one in group who was above rank 5... those were the days xD

Anyway, after the double points weekend you pretty much need to be 10 to get a group, 9 at the least. Ursan PuG's generally don't fail as much as normal PuGs, make sure you take some con sets and you will do fine.

wow really? so people just ask for higher ranks these days because THEY are a high rank...eliteish snobs >_>

as I said, when I get into a group, I'll just keep my mouth shut unless asked something and get it over with as soon as possible >_<.

ah well, maybe I'll be lucky and get a good experience with a PUG first time ^^ (unlikely but it happens)

1) eles are welcome as terras to solo some parts of the UW while ursans do the rest, in case they are ursans they are welcom too but warriors have more armor then eles... but it works anyways lol

2) r8,9 are welcome depending on the party leader... if its a guy who thinks '' im so leet i only do r10 partys'' you will have trouble finding a party but for me a r8 does the job almost as good as a r10 (Consumes FTW )

3)who the hell checks for insignias??? lol only terras must have that concearn ( geomancers) you could have any insignias it doesnt make much difference

4) ive tried the run about 20 times and have opened the chest about 6 lol

there is always a noob terra or some ursan that doesnt know what he's doing, i dont blame them. ppl have to learn but its kind of a waste of time for the rest of the party...

hope i helped

Some elitists won't take squishies (ele, mes, monk) as ursans because in theory their lower armor will hinder them. As an ele, I've never been turned away from an ursan pug. Also, you can learn to be a terra tank ele (e/me) and bring that one skill (I forget what it is, it's a mes skill that copies an elite off someone else's bar) so you can be ursan most of the time and terra tank the rest.

Groups will take r8 if their desperate, but you should be r9/10 if you want to be assured of getting in a group with a decent chance - since everyone in that group will also be r9/10.

idk why theyd require stonefist insignias - so what if it extends the kd on stuff, if you kill fast enough it won't matter. You're spamming kd anyway so whats the point.

I've done the entire run maybe 5 or 6 times so far. Usually I get in a group doing all 4 areas, then try to take on mallyx. If your group can do the preliminary stuff you should get mallyx on the first or second try.

arcane mimicracy is the skill. the rank thing ppl now look for r9s at least b/c most ppl are high rank now anyways. some pugs welcome squishes others only have w/ w/ w/ w/ etc. it depends on your lucky but the only time ive had trouble with ursun pugs is with someone taking wrong quest and/or no loading. but try it, mention cons as a last resort or if the groups only accept r10, since you can be r9 with the book.

if you're going as an ele ursan, get prismatic insignias on all of your armors and go paragon secondary. 9 in all of your elements and 9 in command or mot (dependent on shield) and bring signet of return.
